Mission & History

Brain Injury Florida is the only non-profit in the state of Florida solely serving individuals who have sustained brain injuries, their family members and the professionals who treat them. Our vision is to be the voice of brain injury in our community. Our mission is to improve the quality of life for those affected by brain injury.

In 2022, Dennis Armington, was investigating the extent of brain injuries in incarcerated youth in order to assist in rehabilitation. During the investigation, it was found that the number of persons in Florida was high, and no organization to assist them. There was a need to provide accurate and timely information to families whose loved ones had been affected by a brain injury. Reaching out to some support groups, volunteers were soon recruited.
